I Like Totally Love It – Digg for gadgets. Genius!

I Like Totally Love It. Sometimes it’s the simple ones that do it for you, and this one is superb. Rather than load you down with reviews, fancy navigation and frills you don’t need, these guys (a bunch of students, no less) have come up with a genius play – a Digg for gadgets. You register for free, submit your gadget recommendation and the community votes for it to get to the front page. Sure there are similar out there, but this is the essence of cool, wrapped up in a clean, no-frills, no-brainer package.

It’s got a fabulously simple interface, a great bookmarklet, RSS feeds of the listings and it rocks. Not sure whether it’s based on the Pligg code, but it’s one of the best things I’ve seen in ages. I like totally love it guys, and don’t forget the Ferret when you get big and famous, eh? Arf! [Thanks Malte]

Hi, thanks for the review! Yes, we are based on pligg.com’s code. We should probably emphasize this more to give credit where credit is due (we already do credit them in the FAQ, though). It’s great to have pligg and we are bundling up our bugfixes right now to contribute back.

Yes Pligg seems to be getting quite popular. :-) Your implementation is nice though, very simple. Some of the sites can get a bit complicated. I do notice that your navigation is a little borked in Firefox. Specifically navigating to and from the main page can get a little lost. :-)

Thanks for the feedback! I hopefully just fixed that usability issue + several other bugs + rewrote the “submit instruction” so it doesn’t (like) totally suck.

    Cool Martin, very cool. :-)

Thought I would throw my competitor your way. I just launched a similar application named BuzzFever.

    BuzzFever.com

    Some of our notable features:

Product images can be pulled in from the Amazon product database or can be uploaded.

Each product features BuzzLinks, which are links to other sites referencing the product (e.g., official product site, reviews, blog articles, etc.)

The Top Products section enables very granular tracking of buzzes per time period, so you can answer questions like “What were the most buzzed products on Dec. 22nd, 2006?” or “Most buzzed for the month of December?”.

Check it out. I welcome your comments.
