Unyte – free desktop sharing for Skype

Unyte

Unyte is a pretty cool desktop sharing plug-in for Skype. Just download, install and you’ve got 1:1 sharing of your Windows desktop, applications and tea cups (we wish!). We wrote about this when it launched beta in January, but now it’s released properly, and it actually does work well. And with hardly any lag etc. Better still, they have priced it really aggressively. Free for 1:1 limited view sharing, and just $30 a year for 1:1 shared control access. Unfortunately there’s no Mac host available at the moment, but maybe one day. Nice.

Once Skype users download the Unyte plug-in (<1mb), they can start sharing immediately. participants do not need unyte to view a sharing session. for the first 30 days, users enjoy both unyte and unyte+ features for free. unyte offers 1:1 application viewing and unyte+ offers application and desktop sharing, annotation, shared control and scheduling. unyte+ also supports 1 – 25 users vs. standard unyte, which only supports 1:1 usage.
