The FaceSCAN III is a 1.4 megapixel, halogen lamp based face scanning apparatus (lovely word, Jasper) which gives all sorts of opportunities for rendering our lovely mugs in 3D statue form, online games, avatars and everything narcissistic. Probably not cheap (version II was €30,000) and probably no good for scanning cats.

In particular, texture resolution has been improved to 1.4 mega pixels: * Fast data acquisition in less than 0.8 sec per view * Texture acquisition at a resolution of 1384 x 1036 pixels * Measurement area of approx. 600 x 460 mm; capable of capturing up to three persons simultaneously * Covers approx. 160 degrees in a single shot
