iCoustic – the acoustic guitar gets all digital on us

Icoustic

The iCoustic Guitar. Take an ordinary looking acoustic guitar, embed a speaker in the soundhole, throw in an amplifier and a heap of clever electronics which let you plug in an external recording system and media players and you’ve got a pretty awesome solo musical instrument. MP3 Mode lets you play tracks from your iPod through the speaker and Pro Mode gives you recording and playback from a Korg ToneWorks PXR4. Watch the video demo from developer Ken Preece. Nice one. $749.00 [Thanks Ken]

The iCoustic system was created to add more power and tone to the acoustic guitar and to add greater versatility by allowing you to attach your guitar to a multitude of new portable digital devices. The mini-portable guitars are a perfect fit for the iCoustic system. The various modes detailed below show you how you can get BIGGER SOUND and more options from your MINI ACOUSTIC GUITAR. Only iCoustic has this patented technology.

  • This is a really neat idea. I’m sure it makes a purist criinge, but I like it. One thing’s for sure, this fellow needs to get a better videographer. The audio from the guitar is not bad, but he needs to have a lav mic. I do this for a living, and low quality video bugs me.

  • This is a bass.

  • Tim, yes I noticed that, but Ken definitely is playing a full acoustic guitar in the video. Maybe the bass is the first model out of the box? Joe, agreed about the video, not a great demo in that regard. :-)
