I’m struggling to think of an application for this. If you’ve got your phone with you, why not just use SMS – it’ll be cheaper, or make a note/reminder/etc. on your phone.

I’ve used this a couple of times already and see it as the future. If you don’t, you will.
Mike, I just thought it was pretty cool to have a voice service available rather than having to type stuff via SMS etc. Also the main thing is the transfer to email, which is a very logical transfer from the mobile world to the desktop where a lot of our work is done. Perhaps. :-)
I use spinvox for this and other voicemail and text services. They automatically turn my voicemail into a text message/email. They do this very well too. I signed up for their one year free trial.
