I recently started testing the beta version of Mobivox and it’s pretty cool. Think of a service that lets you access all your Skype contacts and make Skype and SkypeOut calls from your mobile phone. But instead of relying on software downloads, computers and stuff it’s all done via a simple local call and voice commands.

You dial a local number to access the service, and are then prompted to speak the name of the Skype contact you want to call. The voice recognition repeats it back to you to make sure, then connects you up for free. It works on any phone, and is great if you’ve got one of those bundled minutes plans where the local call ends up costing next to nothing. This makes it, of course, a pretty cool way to make super cheap international calls from your cell phone, which is an interesting thing.
