Fresh Logic’s Atlas is a beautifully designed mapping application with all the trimmings you could want. It’s based around Microsoft Virtual Earth, but goes way beyond just another Google Maps clone. The navigation and interface are fabulous and the basic detail is fine – albeit still too US centric, needs much more international material – but it’s the little things that make it work. For example you can log a GPS device or phone with the system and enjoy a real time tracking service on the live map.
It also features a wealth of information services like nearby traffic, gas prices, or movie times and makes great use of the excellent Bird’s Eye view to let you get down close to most locations. It’s just about the best application of its type I’ve yet seen, and once they start implementing more international data sets it will be an awesome resource.
