Pinqy Fire Extinguisher – tiny but useful anti-fire implement

Pinqy

Pinqy Fire Extinguisher. We’re trying to work out why you’d need a ‘discreet’ tool for putting out fires (is it because you don’t want to scare the neighbours?) but that notwithstanding, we like this product because it just feels right. A quick blast of whatever is in this 14cm tall appliance looks to be enough to smother most early stage flare ups. Which makes it a nice thing to have around for emergencies, eh? £29.95. [Via ILTLI]

With its lightweight and practical design, PinQY is simple to use and easy to handle. It takes up little space, which means that PinQY is not only also suitable for smaller living spaces (such as student rooms), it can also be placed right in any area that runs the risk of catching fire. As it is “lightweight” and does not require much strength to handle, PinQY can also be used by children, the elderly and the disabled.

Wow, is it me or does this thing look like a giant red fragmentation grenade?

Interesting product. On the one hand, yeah it does look like a hand grenade; it should have a yellow sticker on the side that says ‘fire extinguisher’ or something. And it doesn’t look like its got much staying power; what happens if a fire flares up again? It seems to me with fire extinguishers, the more the better, in terms of capacity.

On the other hand, its small enough to be used by children. I could see it being a lot more useful if they sold them in six-packs.
