Change Advertising Forever is another example of a growing number of user generated advertising services which are springing up like mushrooms (‘Folks, get your Marsha Farms mushrooms for 10% off’ at Trader Joes). These services, like Zooppa which we’ve mentioned before, and RealityAdz look set to capitalise on cheaper video equipment (‘Special offer on Panasonic AG-HVX200 prosumer HD camcorder, for this week only, see inside for details’) and the burgeoning ego of 20 somethings who think they can Do It Better!
There are even companies like Virtrue and UGENMedia making a business out of providing consumers with the tools to make this stuff en masse, which is more than worrying. The good news about UGA is that it can be amusing, the bad news is that most of the stuff being produced currently is absolute drek. Its DTP for the video age and it sucks (‘Check out the latest hot movies from Blockbuster, they’re cool’). Anyway we’ll watch this stuff with interest over the coming months. Not a lot of interest, but some. This has been a Public Service Announcement.
