Etruk offers a home biodiesel processing plant so you can make your own cheap, cleaner burning (60% less CO2) renewable fuel for your vehicles. The company also offers training to make sure you get it right. For those what don’t know, biodiesel is biodegradable and can be made from waste vegetable oil (from restaurant chip fryers for example) or animal fats etc. Apparently Volkswagen cars are able to run on 100% biodiesel as standard, which is probably because Germany is ahead of the game in promoting it as an alternative and more ecological fuel. In the UK, making your own equates to half price petrol prices, which is incentive enough.

With the government’s recent announcement that any individual can produce 2,500 litres of biodiesel per year for personal use, without registration and tax free the potential savings are huge. Great post. I wonder if and when this will be available in Germany. So many people drive Diesel cars, in Germany more than 50 percent, so actually a “machine” like this is amazing. And the price for the “Etruk 50″ is quite reasonable. I just doubt that the German government will grant that much “free” homemade Diesel without putting a tax on it from the first liter.

I’ve been wondering when these home kits were going to start hitting the general market. It’s going to be interesting to watch what will happen to different industries when BioDiesel is financially viable and reliably home brewed.
