Sound Studio HS668 – sound and beauty in one glorious package

Soundstudiohs668

The Hisonic Sound Studio HS668 hereby receives the coveted Ferret Award for the ugliest digital product of 2007. Heck and we’ll throw in 2006 as well just for the fun of it. Billed as an ‘All in One Digital Speaker System’,  it has clearly been designed for people who listen to their music in the dark. It accepts input from flash memory drives via a USB port, as well as the usual audio in sockets on the back, and the company even promotes it for a laptop speaker system. We suggest using it with your brand new Apple MacBook Pro. $79.95 and worth every dollar.

The HS-668 SOUND STUDIO can also be used as a PC (laptop / notebook especially) USB speaker where it excels for PowerPoint presentations and DVD sound presentation over the notebook PCs internal tiny speakers. The HS-668 USB amplified stereo speakers plug into the USB port of the laptop and produce room filling sound that will amaze your listeners who will think that the sound is coming from a much larger system. The HS-668 USB amplified stereo speakers are also excellent for DVD movie viewing (5.1 CH Virtual Expansion).

  • So, your review leaves a little to be desired. When I think of "sound", I think of things that I _hear_, not things that I _see_… So how does it _SOUND_?

  • I bought one of these for use with a Kaito SW radio. The radio didn't last long…this thing is still going. Despite the sorta funky 60s look, the audio quality is pretty good. I haven't really used all the features, in fact I just dug it out of the closet recently and have my new Prism 7" tv perched on top of it, hooked to cable. The tv's tiny speakers were pretty bad, with this set-up on my night stand, the audio is pretty good. I haven't really explored all this speaker system is supposed to be able to do, I'm just using as external speakers for a small, portable tv, and for that it works great.

  • It needs a picture of a beaw on it! Put a picture of a beaw on it!

  • Hi there,

    Hi there,

I'm having a hard time finding details, but I have this model.

The volume and on/off potentiometer switch has failed on it and I was looking for a replacement part (i'll take up the soldering).

Locating and contacting the manufacturer has been a Sherlock Holmes adventure.

    Thanks
    Dimitrios
