Battery Eater. You’ve got old discarded AA batteries lying about in your place right? On their way to the trash, but still lingering for some reason? Right, well slap them into this novelty fridge magnet creature and it’ll suck the life out of them with its blinking LED light eyes. Hey, so it’s not a totally green disposal option, but at least you can feel better about squeezing every last drop of juice out of the things. £6.50 ($12.85).
That’s right, now we can feed our seeming useless, dying AA batteries to the Battery Eater, a gruesome green monster which takes a battery between its teeth and sucks away at it until there’s no life left in it. Made from a circuit board with wire for hair, the Battery Eater uses the last drops of power to light up his LED eyeballs and watch as they blink with his delight. What’s more, it’s magnetic so you can stick it on the fridge as well as hang it from a small nail or tack in the wall.

Why?!
Why not?! If the standard by which all creations were judged was "WHY?" (presumably with production of those that could not justify their existence being discontinued) the world would be a dull place. Coffee is not necessary – water is sufficient to sustain life. Cake is not necessary – bread will suffice. In this case the designer thought it was a good idea, Kikkerland who market it agreed and so do I so I bought one. WHY? Why not? I like it, it is an interesting expression of a design whereby a 1.5 volt battery which has fallen to less than 1 volt and can no longer power a useful device can power a flashing toy which would normally require 2 fresh batteries.
It would be a real find if it stored the juice and fed it into a rechargeable.
