Testcard TV – watch your favourite shows and movies for free online

Testcardtv

Testcard TV. OK, so again we’re not quite sure how these guys are getting away with it, but the site features a ton of top quality shows and movies streamed for free on demand. The video quality is good and bad, as is the streaming quality. We got a lot of stuttering on popular stuff like Heroes which made it unwatchable, but no problems with less well known programming. Nope, don’t ask about licensing, or we might have to shoot you. [Update: Tam claims a trojan is buried on the site in our comments section, so please take care with this site. I haven’t been infected according to my a/v software, but maybe that’s because I’m not using IE or OE. Be careful out there!]

Testcard TV has been founded by a small group of Internet entrepreneurs who understand that most people want to discover, watch and share live tv, movies, shows, cartoons etc. on the Internet for free using their web browser.

  • It would seem that they are just providing links to videos that are posted elsewhere. The videos seem to stream from different sources, such as myspace, youtube and others, but they stream it through their flash interface. It took me a minute to realize that. This is similar to another new service called VeohTV i think?

  • I tried running a video to test the streaming & quality-now every 5 minutes I have a police siren blasting out of my speakers-obviously if they can screw up my pc with this very annoying noise, then this site can put anything else it wants to on your pc? malware, spyware, virus’s.
My advice would be to give this site a WIDE berth-well dodgy!!!

  • Weird stuff Tam, I didn’t get anything like that with Firefox. braindonkey, ah yes that makes sense. And it looks as though quite a bit of it comes from…cough…Far Eastern countries.

  • If you visit this site you find this file trojan.pandex – your antivirus should find and delete this after a scan.

flash9d.ocx this is a Macromedia flash file this will be corrupted – disable it through tools > manage add ons > enable or disable add ons..

go to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash and download it

Close and reopen your browser then reenable flash9d.ocx

Hope this helps anyone else who gets caught out
