Active Security Monitor is a free dashboard thingy for Windows that gives you a visual picture of the security settings of your computer. It covers things like firewalls, virus and spyware and wireless networking, which means that it’s pretty useful if you’re someone who can’t be bothered with digging into the guts of your system to check things individually. Not sure about the P2P setting though. Since when is that prima facie a security risk?
* A simple, easy-to-understand display of your PC’s security status – for all the PCs in your home network * A Safety Score, similar in concept to a credit score, that indicates how safe your PC is from viruses, spyware, identity theft and other intrusions and attacks * A list of recommended products, services, settings and articles you can use to improve your PC’s level of protection * Messages and alerts about the status of your security software
