IDE to Compact Flash, SD, Memory Stick, MMS Adapter – mainline your memory cards directly into your motherboard

Idetosdcfadapter

IDE to MMS, Compact Flash, Memory Stick, SD Adapter. The cool thing about these adapters is the fact that you can hook your memory cards directly into a motherboard without any hassles, which lets you boot off them as well as merely transfer data. Compact Flash cards now hold over a terrabyte of data (OK, a small bit of fast forwarding there…) so you can do all sorts of clever stuff. And it supports Linux. Yeah, geek love. $28.99.

This adapter connects a CF, MMC, MS, or SD memory card to a 3.5” IDE host interface. Aiming at educational sectors, IT development, and the embedded technology enthusiast to enable the use of an CF, MMC, MS, or SD card as an IDE hard drive. Features: # Compatible with all PC Card Services and Socket Automatic sensing of PC Card ATA or true IDE. # Support PIO, Multi-DMA and Ultra DMA Host Data. # Support 8-bit/16-bit data transfer on Host Data Bus. # Integrated PC Card attribute memory of 256 Bytes. # Automatic wake up from power-down on host reset. # Microprocessor I/O transfer mode (High Flexibility) or automatic transfer mode (High Speed) support. # Auto data CRC generation/check. # Support Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Vista/Linux Operating System

  • Seems very cool and all, too bad flash memory still has a very limited amount of times it can be written :( Without write control an average Windows machine would burn up a card in 1-2 weeks. If they’d solve that problem, then yeh, love :)

  • If you used a CF adapter can you use SDHC cards? I have a couple of 16 GByte cards I would love to be able to boot from
