Gyrate.

The Gyration Media Center Remote and Keyboard. $179.95. Wave this kit in the air and control your Media Center PC from 100 foot away through walls and stuff. I wonder whether it’s like wireless networking, where you need cardboard thin walls to get the full range? Probably.    Gyration’s high-power radio gives you the ability to relocate your Media Center PC virtually anywhere in the house. Network your TVs and control the PC from anywhere. And since it’s RF, the Media Center…

Organize IT.

Socket’s OrganizeIT Suite. $299.00. A rather cool and definitely geeky way to organize and catalogue your collections using your PDA and their barcode scanner and software. A bit too ‘High Fidelity’ for the Ferret’s taste, but hey…  The software application in conjunction with the SDIO ISC scans UPC bar codes and retrieves valuable data on the web to complete a comprehensive database of music and video. Information can be synchronized between Pocket PC and Palm OS mobile devices and the…

10 reasons why I’ve switched from Internet Explorer to the Firefox browser

You:   What’s that?Me:     It’s a web browser.Y:       Ahh, I see. Looks different somehow. M:      Yep, it’s Mozilla’s Firefox, I’m now using it full time as a replacement for Internet Explorer. Y:       Really? Fascinating but strange. Why would you want to switch from the world’s favourite browser?M:      Simple really, IE is getting a bit old in the tooth and a little too vulnerable security-wise for my liking. So I thought it might be time for a change. Not an easy decision, but I’ll give you 10 reasons why…

The clu.clu.clu..clock?

The Animal Alarm Clock. £12.99 ($21.43). What PETA way to get up in the morning, eh?  These rather silly retro styled clocks are the ideal antidote to dull alarms. No bells, beeps or whistles, just the curious bleats and what-have-you of your choice of dawn chorus it has to be healthy to wake up laughing.

Airplay.

Is the PikAx the ultimate air guitar? Probably. [Thanks Tom].  The PikAx experience is two-fold. The first is what we like to call jammin’. Here you can select and assign your favourite riffs from your record collection and play like your guitar heroes. The second is where you can assign full chord sounds to the buttons of the PikAx and trigger them by strumming/striking the strings of the PikAx – letting you play like a true musician.

Goldfish track.

The Goldfish Racetrack. Very cool and humane.  I have designed an aquarium to come to the aid of goldfish. They are traditionally kept in round bowls which makes them unhappy because they are long distance swimmers. Bowls magnify and there is no space to move and no place to hide. I made an 8-shaped track that creates an infinite aquarium for the fish.

Hot chat.

The Talking Forehead Thermometer. $29.95. For some reason this particular product title tickles the Ferret’s strange and rather banal funny bone.   Our talking forehead thermometer announces its results aloud in a clear voice in just two seconds, for quick and easy readings even when monitoring a restless child. Accurate to within .04º F, the talking thermometer obtains a temperature from a child’s or adult’s forehead and shows temperature, time, date, and day on its large LCD. It can also store up to…
