FireTorrent returns! – super cool Firefox plugin makes BitTorrent crazy easy

Firetorrent

FireTorrent is a free Firefox Add-on which embeds BitTorrent downloading in the browser. The result is total no-brainer simple downloads. Just click on a torrent link and the download happens as though you’re downloading a regular file, complete with the standard progress box.

Yes it’s basic (there’s no dialogue at all as with conventional BitTorrent clients like uTorrent) and there are rough patches in the UI (for instance choosing a download directory via the options seemed broken for me, so it defaulted to the desktop) but overall this is a very nifty piece of tech.

Oh one other thing, there have been a few complaints about it not releasing the file download once it’s finished, so it may be worth closing Firefox and restarting if you suspect anything like that is happening on your machine.

FireTorrent offers truly native integrated support for BitTorrent into Firefox and Wyzo with competitive torrent download speeds. Fire Torrent integrates seamlessly into your downloads window, making downloading torrents with Bit Torrent really easy!

  • Did FireTorrent go somewhere?

    • Yeah, it stopped working on older versions of Firefox for a while. :)
