Meep is the latest in a looong line of freeware video downloaders, but with a difference, in that it comes with a full search engine, the ability to download and save MP3 audio from video and direct export into iTunes. The software supports YouTube, DailyMotion and MegaVideo and if you pay $19.99 and register for a year you can also download Hulu material.
It comes in the form of a toolbar which installs into IE or Firefox (no Chrome, note) and to use it simply click on the button while the video is playing in the browser. It’s fast and simple to use. One warning, the installation routine tries to insist on installing a 3rd party search tool as your default, which is somewhat intrusive so I refused, but it’s an advertising thing I think.
Meep is the easiest way to find and download your favorite music and video clips from just about any streaming video site…Choose whether you want just the music, or the whole music video delivered to your computer – or even your iPod! You can even flag your favorite songs and let your friends listen and download them. It all works from right inside your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) and is as simple as clicking one button.
