Refurbished IKEA – popular brand makes moves to keep their product out of landfills

IKEA isn’t really known for having long lasting furniture. That’s sort of its thing, it’s the furniture you get for your first apartment and don’t care if it all gets smashed up with all the freedom you have. But honestly, IKEA has some nice stuff and to help the environment, they’re testing out selling some refurbished products, plugging straight into the reuse option of Eco-friendliness.

This isn’t available in all stores but two in the UK are offering gently used and refurbished items for your home needs. The idea is to keep what would be waste from the landfills and cut down on manufacturing costs.

Since a lot of IKEA furniture that isn’t broken ends up in consignment shops anyway (they’re a very popular brand), it makes sense for the retailer to close that circle. This is just being tested at two stores for now but hopefully we’ll see this option pop up at even more stores in the future.
