SlickRun – magic word freeware makes Windows tasks super fast

Slickrun2

SlickRun doesn’t have the most beautiful interface in the world, but this small freeeware program is extremely useful nonetheless. Think of it as a Launchy rival, a pop up command tool which accepts normal words to execute whatever Windows function you want.

There are a couple of standout points. First is the Jot function (WinKey-J) which is a universal text clipboard. Just copy/paste into this pop up box to save text instantly for future use. Great for filling out forms and stuff. The program ships with a bunch of useful keywords to start with, including movie, book, weather and babel, each of which delivers a valuable function instantly (some of them don’t work as well as advertised though, which is a shame).

If you’re in the market for a speedy, unobtrusive utility to help speed up your Windows productivity, this is definitely worth a look.

SlickRun is a powerful but surprisingly complicated little application. It takes time to learn, but we think you’ll find it well worth your effort. So what is a SlickRun MagicWord, you ask? A MagicWord is a “friendly name” for a program. For instance, C:\Program Files\Outlook\Outlook.Exe” might be how you start your mail program from the command line. However, “Mail” is a lot more descriptive, and a lot easier to type. To that end, SlickRun allows you to create MagicWords to programs or document files.
