TentPak – The backpack with the built-in tent

Image

We’ve seen bikes built into backpacks, now here’s the slightly more logical TentPak, a tent built into a backpack. The idea was to make a backpack and tent that’s ready to grab-and-go even if you’re just going out for a day’s hike. With the tent always in the pack you’ll have shelter if you’re caught outdoors, overnight unawares. TentPak make a range of packs geared towards different scenarios including Search-and-Rescue, Expeditions, Hunting/Fishing and kids and there are versions for men and women. The tents come in a range of 3 and 4 season models. Prices start at around US$300 for the Expedition series packs.

The average TentPak weighs only 13 pounds – tent and backpack combined. Each TentPa is built on the 20 years running, best selling European High Peak platform featuring high-quality ripstop nylon and polyester fabrics, Duraflex buckles and connectors, and water resistant bags and zippers. Each backpack is also equipped with an internal rain cover to keep gear dry during inclement weather.

  • ONLY 13 POUNDS? That's not really something to brag about in modern hiking/camping. That's 50% or more of my total load (food, water, gear, tent, sleep system, etc) and I'm not even considered "ultralight".
