Treshr – find free stuff online…for free

Treshr

Treshr is a kind of mashup between Craigslist, Google Maps and Freecycle, and offers a place where you can find stuff people are giving away. Cute name apart (dig for treshr, geddit?) the app is actually quite neat, although I do wish the search was more global and not confined to a location. I suspect this is just because there’s very little material on there at the moment, which makes finding a hand embroidered gold taffeta doily a tad difficult.

But stick to San Fran and NY and you’ll have a better chance of picking up a freebie item to your taste. It’s supposed to feature all items from these free giveaway services, but we’re a little mystified because there must be more than 800 things being given away on Craigslist alone in New York? Surely?

We would have assumed also that there are plans to let people actually place their own items for donation on the site, rather than just scraping Craigslist/Freecyle, but maybe that’s not practical.

Everyone has stuff they don’t need anymore. Maybe your child outgrew their old clothes, or you moved to a new place and have old furniture to get rid of. Whatever it is you’re looking for, someone somewhere is trying to throw it away. We’re here to make sure nothing goes to waste.
