Unshake – freewae remove the blur from your badly taken photos

Unshake3

Unshake is a somewhat crude Java freeware program which removes the blurry from your bad snaps. Before you get all excited, it won’t work miracles, so if the subject was moving too much when they shouldn’t have been, you’re probably going to be out of luck.

But for those basic camera shake moments when you simply jiggled a bit on shooting, the program does seem to work. It crisps up the shot and makes it half presentable, although it does appear to add a little noise too. The software uses something called a Cooley-Tukey Fast Fourier Transform to achieve its results, which is double Greek to us, so we’ll ignore it totally.

Be warned it’s very Java, so the interface is…um…weird…with lots of little windows opening, but if you stick with the default settings you could get lucky, especially with those dodgy camera phone shots.

Unshake 1.4 is a Java-2 and C program which improves blurred and shaken photographs by working out the form of the blurring, then deducing what the picture would have looked like if it had not been blurred.
