1 minute phone fix…

Short and sweet – press do for upcoming mobile handsets. Lots of the new stuff to see. Interestingly not a lot of Symbian, but lots of Openwave UI stuff. A sign of the times? Some 60 second impressions –

Nokia 7280 First prize for the world’s most obtuse handset. Sure it’s small, black and ever so slightly trendy, but how do I make a freakin’ call eh?

The brand new Siemens SF65 swivel phone with 1.3 megapixels? Ho-hum!

Siemens SK65 with in-built Blackberry tech? Yeah, quite nice. The keyboard is definitely useable for typing email type stuff, and it’s got a nice feel to it. One to watch (along with the Nokia Communicator 9300?)

Star of the show? The Sony-Ericsson S700i (sorry no naff photie, forgot). Great form factor, lovely screen and specs and an LED flash. What more could a person want? Except perhaps for Sony to get real and drop Memory Stick.

Hype of the Night. Apparently very shortly we will be seeing a rash of mobile phone ‘lifestyle accessories’ (look I only write it, OK?) like this rather tasteful…cough…neck rope. Not just any old neck rope mind you, but a designer one, created by up and coming fashionista Alistair Carr. I think it’s such a clever idea to carry your handset around like this in busy streets don’t you?
