Use a WYSIWYG HTML editor which adds stuff unnecessarily? Fancy cutting out all the rubbish to make the file smaller? Then check out the aptly named HTML Shrinker. It should do the job, although it might pay to keep a handy copy of the original files somewhere safe, if you know what I mean.

Two new Palm PDAs launched today, the Palm m515 and the Palm m130. The m515 features a 3 stage screen backlight, which improves the screen brightness considerably. At the top setting it can now hold its own with the iPaq (still not quite as bright but very close). In all other respects this is a similar box to the m505 it replaces. 16MB memory, some additional software and a slightly different case. It’s nice but not earth shattering and in…

A nice bit of opportunistic publicity for Myster – a new P2P network and client – now that Morpheus is having problems. A front page mention on Metafilter should give it the kind of exposure it needs. The main claim to fame? It is not centralised, apparently spreads the file sharing load and allows those who store lots of files on their hard disks to advertise to downloaders by beaming a jpeg image into the download progress box. We must…

And the reason why IBM research can be amongst the coolest in the world? This Glass engine for one. It’s a sort of online search engine for the music of Philip Glass, but the real importance of the technology lies in how it can be used in other areas, say for general searching for music or entertainment generally. A short BBC News Real video clip of research being done in Philadelphia into the use of smell as a weapon. In this case they’re trying to use an overpowering stench to disperse crowds. ‘A cross between rotten food and what they delicately call human waste’. Coming to a riot near you soon, no doubt.

Twomobile.com reports that Olympus has launched a new digital photo print kiosk which can be used in public places to produce prints from customer’s digital media like Compact Flash, Smartmedia or Memory Stick cards. The kiosks can be standalone as in the picture, or counter top based and the dye sub printers will sit behind the counter. Optional extras include CD-RW drives to create photo CDs and scanners to allow customers to copy their prints. The TruePrint kiosk will be…

And to back up my earlier faith in his qualities, Guy the Kewney has a nice article on his site based around an interview with the guy who designed the latest HP WDA device. The piece is really about the art of high tech design. Although there are a couple of things I’m not entirely sure about – such as designing modular components rather than all in one PDA gadgets – it’s a good read.

Some great Javascript games, no downloads, no installs, and no waiting around as you do for Flash games. A great way to waste some valuable time. Hah! [via Metafilter]

A beautiful set of paintings with intriguing and in some cases bizarre perspectives, done by Rob Gonsalves. Fabulous. [via Everythingisnt]

Moving right along to Star Trek holovision type technology is the Actuality 3D imaging system. The device produces 3D images using some clever technology with far too many syllables, but they sure are pretty.

Swiss concept car developer Rinspeed has come up with the Presto – a car with an incredible shrinking chassis. The vehicle can shrink from a 4 seater to a 2 seater at the push of a button (or pull of a lever or something) using some clever hydraulics. Great for those tight parking spaces. Also great the other way round, of course, if you need to carry an extra couple of people home from that late night party. [via Mike’s…

Virtual reality day today. Techdirt has a report on a new game called Jawbreak, which appears to be a sort of Majestic type game. If you remember – before it was unceremoniously dumped by EA – Majestic was billed as the world’s first ‘real time’ game in that you played it by searching Web sites, receiving phone calls, emails and faxes and generally freaking out as the game intruded into your real life activities. It failed to excite enough people….

Just to prove that we are all turning into virtual folks, there’s a guy over in Japan who has set up a direct Windows Media feed of him playing the beta version of the next Final Fantasy XI game. The feed is on 24 hours a day, so obviously for large portions of time the character is just standing around doing nothing, but I’ve just done a bit of voyeuristic viewing and he’s playing right now. How weird. [via Geeknews]

Well it had to happen. PC World mag is reporting that NEC and Matshushita are working on multi-processor mobile phones. Within 12 months, apparently, these 2.5 and 3G phones will incorporate two processors to handle the extra workload. What I want to know is how long before we have to have water cooled phones?
