Magnetic wood – no more mobile misery

Magnetic wood looks as if it could herald a new period of blessed silence during movies, as it apparently blocks mobile phone signals rather efficiently. And now In other news just in, some clever boffins in Japan appear to be well on the way to developing lip reading handsets. So not only will we be able to get rid of annoying ring tones during the romantic scenes, but also all that shouting at the handset on trains. Great!

The Forever flashlight

The Micro Forever Flashlight (torch to us Brits) gives 5 minutes of light from a 30 second shake of the hand. It uses super blue LEDs instead of a bulb and costs $29.95. I reckon that they should insert a couple of coffee beans in the top and make it a dual purpose torch and set of maracas. Cool as ICE

The Ice Communicator. I’m not really sure about this one. A small Windows CE device which sports a ‘viewport’ instead of a screen. Look into this hole and you’ll see the equivalent of a 21″ monitor, at VGA resolution. There is also a head mounted version for those who want to look a little like a Terminator.
