N-Gen
The N-Gen design engine demo is back (obviously by popular demand!). This little piece of free software provides really trendy designs for things like album covers, Web pages and leaflet/flyers literally at the press of a button. You enter in your text, select the design template you want to use, press the ‘generate’ button and presto – one piece of design work all your own. Yes it is cheating, but it’s cool anyway!

Read MoreThe Highway network
So some geeks were on their way to a conference and decided to install a car to car wireless network system to chat to each other. To save mobile phone charges. Makes sense doesn’t it?

Read MorePocket Photo Advance
The Pocket Photo Advance C-200 appears to be a handy sized voice recorder containing an embedded digital camera, which is certainly a new take on the ‘hybrid’ theme. The specs are not that special, 1.3 megapixel, 32MB of memory and a TFT LCD, but the voice recorder will hold up to 4 hours of audio which makes it a potentially useful field note gathering tool. Works off 4 AAA batteries and also supports SmartMedia cards for additional memory storage.

Did the ancient Egyptians or other early civilisations have flying machines? The Ancient Aircraft site offers some evidence and much supposition.
Read MoreDoCoMo FOMA PDA
Yes that headline says it all really, too many acronyms and not enough time. Well the upshot is that Japanese telco DoCoMo has introduced a new type of hybrid PDA/phone – dubbed a two part wireless terminal. The SH2101 FOMA (FOMA stands for Freedom of Multimedia Access by the way) device comprises a base unit with built in camera, LCD screen and keyboard, with a smaller handset portion that you use to make straightforward calls an’ stuff. The base unit…
Read MoreThe future of DVD recorders
While we’re checking out the future, here’s a useful look at the state of the DVD recorder market, and some pointers as to how it is likely to go over the next few months. Apparently we’re about to be hit by a wave of multi-standard drives which will cope with both DVD-RW (and -R) and DVD+RW (and +R). I do wish that these folks would get on with it and settle down to a single standard. Too much greed!

An interesting FTrain piece on the potential shape of the Web and Web services in the future. Definitely worth a read, although long term crystal ball gazing in the IT world can be a dangerous occupation at times. [via Ben]
Read MoreRadio Times TV listings on your PDA
Oooh, so you can now get the television listings from the Radio Times downloaded onto your PDA. Not only that, but you can then use the infra-red port of the PDA as a TV remote control to select your program using the device. Very cool. The 14.95 a year service has been developed by TVCompass, which seems to be quite a switched on (sorry!) company. Fr’instance they have plans to port this service to Symbian, so expect to see them…

An interesting Guardian piece on drug companies, new products and the use of PR. Not very nice reading I’m afraid.
