Paul Thurrott’s Super Site for Windows has posted some early screen shots and information on the next version of Windows, dubbed Longhorn. He’s called it an Alpha Preview, which sounds a mite ambitious since the operating system is not due out for at least another 2 years. Meanwhile BetaNews has posted information about a leaked internal Alpha copy that is circulating around the Net. Actually it all looks and sounds rather boring.

The Pegasus JPEG Wizard is a free online jpg image optimizer. Browse to your image and select it, choose the levels of compression you want/need and press the button. Neat, clean and easy.

Some enterprising person has put together the Nigerian Scam Log site which collates the correspondence taken from folks who have ‘played along’ with the Nigerian 419 scammers. It’s funny, but not something that you want to try at home, I suspect. Just in case things get a tad nasty. [via madville]

It looks weird and it is. The orbiTouch keyless keyboard is supposed to be a realistic replacement for the conventional computer keyboard. Er.. you slide (not rotate!) the knobs around on the plinth to create letters, which apparently reduces wrist tension and stuff. I’m not convinced but then again I am exceptionally stupid. [via ZZZ]

The HiTi PhotoShuttle is a cool dye sublimation printer that outputs a 6×4 photo print onto glossy or matt stock in a mere 45 seconds. Resolution equals a 4800dpi printer, but with continuous tone the results really look like photies. The unit also looks super cool too! The Ferret first mentioned the Airpanel wireless display device from Viewsonic a while back, but now it looks as though Microsoft is driving the whole product concept into prime time territory. See this ABC News article. They are basically TFT LCD screens with wireless networking innards which let you roam throughout a building whilst still being connected to your base PC. Neat idea and one that is likely to do a lot better than over-priced TabletPCs.
