Panasonic rechargeable batteries

Wow, I didn’t realise that rechargeable batteries were so efficient. Panasonic has just launched a new 1950mAh AA battery, and get this – ‘In tests* conducted using Panasonic�s Lumix� DMC-LC20 digital still camera, the Panasonic 1950 mAh AA Ni-MH batteries powered an average of 834 shots. By comparison, the Duracell M3 AA batteries powered an average of 139 shots. That’s amazing! Wireless electricity

Here’s a PC Mag article giving more background detail to the original MobileWise wireless electricity launch. The interesting thing is that the company is apparently looking at the possibility of designing wireless elec furniture and appliances, which means that you could have a table which could power televisions, videos etc from one plug socket.

Does my lens look fat in this?

Yep, they’re gonna get thinner, these ‘ere digital cameras. This is a report on a tiny mock up being worked on by Minolta and Osaka University researchers. Uses an innovative tech to take lots of tiny pics which are then combined into one large pic of 1.6 megapixel resolution. Have to see how it works though, when it finally arrives on the market.
