Spam Pal

Presenting – Spam Pal. A freeware spam basher which looks quite interesting. Haven’t had a chance to have a play yet, but I will.

RIAA – the charge of the tight brigade.

Hmm, just thought I had to mention the latest segment of the music industry’s headlong flight into oblivion. They’ve started suing people, 75 year olds, 12 year olds, that kind of thing. Nice move, guys. But what WILL you do for an encore?

Net watch…

A neat follow up to yesterday’s bit about Paris by Segway is the fact that you can now access an online noise map of Paris which will give you a detailed view of the noise levels in different parts of that fair city. I reckon that every city should have one of these. Wonder if it incorporates rowdy neighbours? On a similar note, you can now also check out a whole passel of stuff about your local neighbourhood here in…

Watching over you…

The Suunto G9 watch helps to improve your game of golf. No really, that’s what it says on the box. Apparently it measures your strokes, stores statistics and lets you analyse the results with the accompanying software. It will even store details of your favourite courses and your clubs. The wonder watch also includes ‘a chronometer with time sync from the GPS satellites, a barometer, an altimeter, a compass, GPS position display and a practical Mark home/Find home function.’ So…

Corporate snoozing.

You know that a company has marketing problems when web sites start springing up to advise people how to use their products. Casio for instance, should take note of the web sites which help people remove links from their watch bands to resize them. Perhaps it’s a sign that you need to put instructions and manuals for your watches on your web site, eh peeps?

Inky fingers…

The Inke machine looks like an espresso maker, but is actually an inkjet cartridge refiller. It only handles HP cartridges at the moment, but I can see this type of product becoming big business real soon. Watch out for the inkjet wars! Just up the road from here a new walk in inkjet refill shop has just opened. Sign o’the times! This is what you get when ink costs more than champagne eh?

Concept phones.

A great section at areamobile.de bringing together a bunch of mobile phone concept designs. Some only on paper, some at mock-up stage like this nifty Sony vid phone. Coolio!

Real smart phones?

Wow, researchers are developing mobile phones which can ‘sense’ their environment using microphones, motion and light sensors etc. The phones will then know enough not to interrupt you when you’re talking to someone else, and eventually maybe even refuse to ring – hurrah! – if you’re in a cinema.

Nigerian Scam 2.

Uh-oh! It looks as though the Nigerians are starting to refine a new scam. You have something to sell. They contact you as a buyer, but want to send you a cheque for more than the selling price and you send them back the difference. Can you spot the pay-off yet? Do the words bounce and dud ring a bell?

Work shy?

The Contractedwork.com site lists freelance work opportunities across a range of categories. No plumbers though. I wonder how this type of online service will fare in the long run?

Paris by Segway.

Paris Tours on Segways. This seems like such a cool idea. The company used to give tours on bicycles, but now offers tours using the new wonder-trolley. I say it’s cool because they’re still environmentally friendly and probably allow quite a bit more accessibility than bikes.

Free web hosting.

Free-webhosts.com is a neat site which serves up a ton of links to free web hosting services across the net. Well laid out, accurate and complete. Well worth a bookmark if you’re into that kinda thang. The main caveat is that free webhosting usually comes at a price, which is performance and reliability. This has been a public service announcement.

PlusDeck 2

I love this. The PlusDeck 2 is a PC cassette deck. That’s right, install it into a free slot on your machine, and presto a tape to MP3 (or .wav) file creator or vice versa. Great for folks who still have a cassette deck in their car or who want to transfer old cassettes to CD or whatever. Yes I know that you can hook up an external tape deck, but think of the ease of using this puppy with…

Bike charger

Don’t speak the Japanese lingo, but this looks like a mobile phone charger that you can attach to your bicycle. A pedal power-up so to speak. Remember folks, using your mobile phone while negotiating your way around a 10 ton truck in thick rush hour traffic is not a particularly clever course of action.
