Play and pay?

Another in the lengthening series of ‘hard work gaming’ products is GameBike. Billed also as a trainer accessory, the $139.00 system comes with a rotating platform for the front tyre (OK tire!), a rear wheel magnetic sensor and cables. You supply the bike and Playstation console. ‘Finally a win-win activity for parents and kids! Gamebike will facilitate a healthy balance of exercise and entertainment that will benefit both you and your family! Especially if the bike’s just come in from…

Stop that noise!

The folks at OCTiV clearly have a thing about noise. Witness the $50.00 Terk VR1 which apparently overcomes the ‘too loud-too soft’ syndrome with television viewing (although this review doesn’t seem too encouraging). Take a look also at the company’s Winamp plug-in which promises the same level of automatic volume level control for playlists. ‘Low levels are intelligently raised and loud signals are kept under control, all in real-time, all with the smoothness of butter. Your music will sound dramatically…

Iris eyes are smiling.

OK, here’s the deal. Pretty soon we’re all going to be so busy scanning in our faces, fingers, voices, pimples and eyes that it’ll take us an hour just to get into the nearest loo door. Aldus Huxley, who needs him? The Panasonic Iris Recognition Camera – for when you absolutely, totally, must mistrust someone today.

De-composing.

Just when you thought you’d heard it all, comes news of a songwriting duo who have composed an album track via mobile phone SMS texting. ‘But because of their busy and demanding schedule, they couldnt find time to sit down together and write the song. But they finally got to do it – through texting, would you believe?… Its a touching love song overflowing with emotion and its a plus that the blending of Vina and Piolos voices was beautiful.’

TV-less TiVo…Part Deux.

Ferrety reader John Evans [Thanks John] has located an RSS feed application for BitTorrent content which could indeed provide ‘season pass’ type functionality for television programs et al using your computer instead of a TV and PVR. Cool stuff. See also TorrentFeed.

Light doctor.

The OzoneLite is a small fluorescent lamp that apparently purifies the air while it’s switched on. ‘We combined an energy efficient light source with a TiO2 (titanium dioxide) coating to effectively help in the elimination of airborne bacteria, mold, viruses, fungi, smoke and household odors.’

Pardon me?

Er..does the world need a book about Electronic Etiquette? Well it’s got one. Your call. ‘For example, the authors contend, “Cell phones should only be given to children for reasons of safety — not for social calls. We recommend that if a child has a wireless phone, it should be ‘on loan’ and for the purpose of calling home. Children should not be allowed to give the number to their friends. The use of cell phones and the Internet by children…

Yet another example of a Peer to Peer application that has absolutely nothing to do with piracy. This technology gives the community the power to weave a collaborative infrastructure for the delivery of essential information to individuals in a robust, scalable and secure way. School’s out.

Sudbury Schools operate with no mandated curriculum. Uh-huh, the kids do what they like. Amazingly – if not shockingly – enough, the idea appears to work. I have a tiny, sneaky feeling that this kind of educational structure is exactly what the future needs in this disparate 21st century knowledge based world. ‘Graduates have gone on to colleges and universities all over the country, and abroad. Most are admitted to their schools of first choice. Other graduates have entered directly…

Conspire to share.

The Konspire network reverses the file sharing paradigm. You don’t run searches, comb through results and download. You subscribe to a channel that matches your interests, go to bed and ‘wake up in the morning to the files that have arrived on your subscribed channels..’ The first client, kast, is out now. Fascinating stuff! ‘kast is similar to a blogging system in that you can use it to regularly “post” new content to a group of readers….For video distribution, this…
