Flying ferrets.

The Capanina Project. Actually this should be filed under ‘random press releases I have received this week which don’t say much at all really.’  Solar Power Aircraft Will Make Broadband Available To All…“The opportunities offered by HAPs..[high altitude platforms]..are exciting as they could deliver broadband connections which are 2,000 times faster than a traditional modem and 200 times faster than today’s ‘wired’ ADSL broadband. HAPs are also easier to maintain than satellites as they can be periodically brought back to…

Bad luck in hindsight.

Bad luck for Reevu, creators of the world’s first cycling (and motorbike) helmet with an inbuilt rear view mirror. They’ve had to temporarily halt production because their factory source has shut down. Shame, it’s a neat idea.

De-dupe.

Duper. Kind of useful freeware for locating duplicate files like digital photos methinks.  Duper scans directories for identical files, allows you to easily locate and delete duplicates wasting hard disk space. The latest version is 20041011 (revision 296). The philosophy behind Duper is to be fast, free and small…Duper first scans all file sizes. Images galore.

Yet more free photo sites. FreeFoto.com and StockVault. Well, I think it’s fairly safe to say that the world is never going to be short of a free image or two again. Much more interesting, though, is the ArtBitz site, which offers real live illustrations for very reasonable prices. Super hand drawn clipart if you will, like the fabbo surf scene above. It’s a small collection right now, but still worth a look.
