DIY Vintage iPod.

The DIY Vintage iPod Project. Some crafts stand out as creating timeless things of beauty. Others seem a little odd. We’ll leave it to your discretion which one this falls under.  Step two: Take it apart. My radio was held together with four phillips-head screws. After removing them, the case was conveniently held together by plastic tabs that were already built in. This made my life much easier, but it isn’t necessary

The NAO Aphaenogaster is a cute little design concept runabout that will probably never see the light of production. Ah well, it’s pretty cool nevertheless. 24  volt battery driving a 350 watt motor, 15 miles an hour and 8 miles range.  The rider sits on a padded seat atop the rear assembly and steers the front wheels with forward and back motion of the control stick. Gliffy.

Gliffy. Think Visio as an online application. Web apps are the new black, aren’t they? This one is rather nice, I have to say, although when a couple of us tried out the collaborative function, it didn’t work at all, so it’s clearly a work in progress [maybe that’s why it’s called a Beta, duh? – Ed]. Interestingly enough the FAQ claims that this is just part of an upcoming ‘suite’ of online programs, which definitely could be interesting. Anyway…

Cell phones to become web servers.

Cell phones as web servers? Hmm…that is something that could really change the face of the web in ways we can’t even imagine. Many mobile phones today have more processing power than early Internet servers, suggesting that…

Over the Ether.

Hmm…just been granted access to the Ether Beta program, which is kind of interesting. Really like the concept – see my About Page for an example – wonder if it will take off? It’s a cinch to set up, and things like the billing and automatic scheduling take all the hassle out of the process of offering fee based telephone services. Anyhoo I’ve now got a couple of Beta invites to give away, so add your comments telling me why…
