SMS Jukebox

Orange France has signed up to supply an SMS Jukebox function to its subscribers. The service lets customers in bars, restaurants or other leisure establishments choose and play songs by sending a text message to the jukebox. Apparently the song will be played in seconds. Phone jammers could suddenly become very popular, don’t you think? [via The Stinger Report]  All the customer needs to do is send an SMS on his mobile phone with the selected song number, and it…

Here’s three online storage and data backup offerings which are based on the new Amazon S3 system. In case you’ve not heard of Amazon’s Simple Storage Service, it’s pretty cool, OK? But geeky. And that’s where these clever front ends come in. That’s all, thank you for listening. Jungle Disk. Super slick, super cheap storage and backup. Unlimited amount of data for just 15 cents per gigabyte. Enough for you grandma? No monthly fee, fully encrypted and secure. Filicious. Not…

How to use Google to find music…easily

A lovely little tutorial on how to use Google to find music to your taste via the Firefox Smart Keyword bookmark function. The great thing is that you can also set this combo up to do fast searches for anything, not just music. Alternatively, the terminally lazy among us could use the ready mixed G2P service.  Smart Keywords are an easy way to search websites right from the Location bar. Say you visit The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) all the time to…

Home Pro Racing Simulator – turbo fun

The Home Pro Racing Simulator. Slap on a nice clean 42 inch plasma screen, hook up your games console or PC of choice and voila, instant non-stop arcade fun right there in your kitchen. It’s got to be the best way to ruin your eyes next to watching the complete set of Star Wars DVDs in one sitting. SCOUT WiFi Robot – monitor this, baby

The new SCOUT WiFi Robot looks like it was put together in an hour by a Lego enthusiast, doesn’t it? All gangly and knobbly and thoroughly unlike the sleek white Japanese alternatives. But I’m sure in terms of functionality, if not price, it’s a match for any Tokyo Ro. Especially with those two gripping arms and cameras. $8050.00.  An improvement provided with the current model SCOUT is a wrist-mounted camera that greatly facilitates remote manipulation of objects. Optionally, you can choose to…

First Act GarageMaster Guitar

The First Act GarageMaster Guitar. Well we’ve heard of rocking the boat, but rocking the four door sedan? Huh? So the idea is that you plug this free guitar into your brand new VW Golf, Beetle or Rabbit audio system and gig your way into your neighbour’s heart. Perhaps the marketing genius who came up with this one should think about taking a bit of a break, preferably somewhere quiet and secluded?  The key to the guitar’s unique design is a…

Classic Black Desk Phone

The Classic Black Desk Phone. My my, retro is so passe, isn’t it? What, we cracked that joke already? Hmm..OK. So anyway, forget about all the sleek chrome miniaturisation sweeping the globe, the only way to declare your love of the past is to buy one of these repro 1930’s phones and display it prominently next to your iPod dock. The fake push button rotary dial really doesn’t do it for us, although it does have a real bell. $45.00. [Via Stylehive]  Crosley’s…

Cellit – sell stuff using camphone video

Cellit. Genius idea, although the implementation could be a little more…ahem…polished. Think YouTube meets Freevlog meets eBay and you’re getting the idea. The seller shoots a video of the thing they want to sell, buyer watches video and purchases. Unfortunately these early demo videos are pretty naff (guys it’s a video, so move the camera around the product a bit, eh?) and the interface is very ‘let’s get a cheap coder from Bulgaria to knock it up for us.’ But a superb idea nonetheless…

GeoGreeting – say hello via Google maps

GeoGreeting. The single most trivial use of the Google Maps I’ve seen yet, but strangely compelling. Create and email your own personalised greeting message using the shape of buildings on Google Maps to make letters. One of those ‘why?’ applications.  I noticed that a lot of buildings in Google Maps looked like letters, and I thought “Hmmm, how I use that as an excuse to waste even more time playing with Google Maps?” This is the best I could come up…

Strobist – superb flash photography tuition

Strobist is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to improve their digital photography in one crucial area – the use of a flash. iPulse Bear Speaker and Lightshow System for iPod and MP3

The iPulse Bear Speaker and Lightshow for iPod and MP3. Oodles of cuddle factor and some groovy features too, like a set of multi-coloured LED lights which pulse in tune to the music coming out of the internal speakers. Compatible with all music players with a headphone out jack. Also can be used for audio books, although a light show during a recitation of Alice in Wonderland might be a bit OTT.  Friendly iPulse Bear for playing iPod tunes or listening to stories from audio…
