Play-Doh Cologne – smell like teen spirit?

Play-Doh Cologne Spray is a bit weird. Isn’t it? Maybe it’s just me, but I really can’t see why you’d want to walk around smelling like a first grade classroom. Ah well. It’s $18.99 for all you juvenile delinquents out there.  Those fresh-from-the-can, full-of-potential, childhood memories… Now in a convenient spray! This Limited Edition Cologne was created to celebrate the 50th Birthday of Play-Doh! Hasbro said the fragrance is “meant for highly-creative people, who seek a whimsical scent reminiscent of…

Aqua Scooter – gas powered submersible craft

The Aqua Scooter. Apparently the ‘worlds only totally portable, submersible, gasoline powered personal water craft’ . It can propel you along at speeds of 5 mph and travel for over 10 miles on one tank of gas. Which kind of blows away all the electric alternatives. The only real question is do you want to hug a gasoline tank to your body all day? $899.00.  The Aqua Scooter takes all the effort out of swimming or snorkeling and provides so…

Emergency Teddy Bear – the real care bear

The Emergency Teddy Bear. From the ‘let’s make it useful’ dept. Why just have a teddy bear hanging around, when you can stuff it full of useful emergency bits and pieces like a radio/light, batteries, blanket, survival tip books, cell phone charger and the like? No reason at all. Clever Japanese. $149.00 in Yen-u-lar.

I Light Speaker – sound meet lava lamp

The I Light Speaker. Well OK, so they’re calling them the lava lamp of speakers, but in reality they’re just a stack of speakers which shimmer. Or glow. Or both if you talk to them nicely. £34.99.  The I-Lit is the lava lamp of speakers; retro, relaxing and colourful with just a hint of kitsch. Standing tall and proud with sexy curves, the I-Lit has two high quality speakers, one on its base and one on its head. Plug the…

Hitachi Hybrid Camcorders – hard disk and DVD recording

| Hitachi DZHS300A Hybrid Camcorder. Records onto either an internal hard disk or a DVD. Not only that, but you can transfer footage from disk to DVD in-camera. Now that’s more like it. After a few years of getting the bits kicked out of them, it looks as though the camcorder makers are finally starting to fight back. Good. 8 GB hard disk (enough for 3 hours of footage), 20x optical zoom, 680K CCD and USB 2.0.

Vacuum Tube Radio – retro cool wireless

The Vacuum Tube Radio harks back to the days when a radio was actually called a wireless. Those of you below the age of 107 won’t know that of course. For you striplings, wireless is simply something you hack into when you’re visiting grandma. But some of us remember. Ah yes. We do. Around $82.00 in Yen like.

Home LED with Remote Control – lights, action

The Home LED Lamp with Remote Control is a bit of a weird one. Quite why you’d want a multi-coloured LED light which flashes, strobes, fades and…ah…glows via remote commands is beyond us. Maybe it fulfills some primordial fire fetish, Neanderthal even. Whatever. Watch the on-site video if the idea appeals, and then cough up the $48.00 before you change your mind.  Widely usage in different environment, such as stage, ceiling, store or even in fish bowl. It can also…

Solar Desk Wind Turbine – show off your green cred

The Solar Desk Wind Turbine is one way to show some consideration for your planet. OK, so it doesn’t actually generate any…ahem…power, and it’s only 24 cm high, but what the heck. It’s solar powered, so it runs on green, and it’s only $35.98 (£19.99) so it won’t require any government funding. Which is a Good Thing.  The Solar Desk Wind Turbine, is cool little kit that brings the green movement to your desktop, and reduces your carbon emissions (well,…

Nemo Pocket Reader – the digital magnifier

The Nemo Pocket Reader. Take an old favourite, throw in a bit of technology and a rechargeable battery and you’ve got a magnification digicam that is pocket sized and gives you colour, black and white or negative magnified images to help you read stuff better. Are we certain that a 4 inch LCD is better than some thick shaped glass? Not really, especially at a price of $139.99. [Update – oops, my bad. The product actually costs $899.00. Phew!]  The…

i-Cushion – the groove-tastic cushion

Qstik EVOQ – noise cancelling Bluetooth headset

The Qstik EVOQ DSP Bluetooth Headset claims to be ‘the world’s most advanced DSP Bluetooth headset’. We can’t possibly comment on such blatant hyperbole, but the specs look OK. Stereo Bluetooth music streaming (but to one ear?), automatic switching between telephone call and music and noise reduction audio enhancement. Remains to be seen just how all this tech affects battery life though. Anyway, it’s available now for £59.99.  The bi-directional noise canceller reduces noise in both incoming and outgoing channels, benefiting the user and…
