Teltonika HSDPA USB Modem – some kind of fast and furious to go

The Teltonika 3G/GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA USB Modem has kind of got it all covered, mobile speed wise. Let’s face it, if you plug this puppy into your computer and still can’t get high speed data access, you’d better leave the island. Mac and PC and supports more than one SIM card, which could be very useful. £193.88.  Teltonika ModemUSB/H1.8 provides global wireless access to the Internet and e-mail and on HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) capable UMTS networks. Sandboxie – the anti-malware buffer zone for your PC

Sandboxie is a nifty piece of freeware which shields your hard disk from any and all malevolent intent. It’s kind of like running a cache buffer zone which stops malware installing itself on your disk. Run a program or your browser in a Sandboxie zone and when you’re finished you can just delete the zone and start again fresh. Anything that was downloaded or installed during the session is wiped out. The idea is great, especially if you spend a…

Tubes. Tubes lets you set up a simple and automatic file sharing link between remote computers, so you can share stuff with anyone instantly. Just in time for Mother’s Day, the company has released a screencast which shows how you can share your photos with Mom by setting up a Tubes link on her laptop. Download the software, set it up and when you get back home drag and drop your latest images onto the application to share. Wow, amazing. It means…

Darth Vader Phone – let the voice be with you

The Darth Vader Phone. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you’ve got to admit that the Star Wars franchise – and boy is it a franchise – really does mean business. It never lets up, does it? And here’s the latest in the collection. A normal (!) home phone which plays the Imperial Death March every time a call comes in. Da-da-de-da-da-de-da-da-de-dum. Personally I’d hook it up to a Magic Ringtone and have it play Judy Garland instead, but what do…

Rota-Rota Hub and Card Reader – plug and playa

The Rota-Rota USB Hub & Card Reader. A twofer. Slick little rotating USB hub (not too sure about this fashion for rotating peripherals, but whateva) combined with a 5–in-1 memory card reader. $17.00. Dinky.  USB Rota-Rota Hub + Card Reader is a perfect special hub that its ports can be rotated to 90 degree separately for users to adjust the angles of different ports. The ports can be rotated back to original place to become a small cube which…

AskAnOwner – get help from users themselves

Ask An Owner is a pretty cool idea. Get help, support and advice from the actual users of products, rather than just ‘experts’ per se. Of course it relies on a large collection of product owners to make it work, but the basic premise is really sound. Post a question, and receive an email notification of a reply within hours from someone who owns the product you’re asking about and has the answer. And it seems to work. Excellent.  (See…

SeeqPod – dynamic music search

SeeqPod is billed as ‘playable search’, which reflects the fact that a rolling list of live searches features right there on the front page before you’ve done anything in the actual search box. The other neat feature is the fact that you’re given a choice of video (YouTube) or MP3 audio in nice onscreen players as part of your search results, and you can even save playlists. One of the best music search engines I’ve seen for a while.  SeeqPod’s…

Freshly Baked USB Drives – yummy, more data Ma

These Freshly Baked USB Drives look good enough to eat, don’t they? Just one more example of the dangers of dabbling in fast food, folks. Available in capacities up to 2GB and with 10 years data retention baked in (sorry couldn’t resist).  Different to the traditional dull-looking USB drives, “Freshly Baked” is a kind of Mini-bread Quintessence. It’s more than a USB drive, but integrates both practicability and aesthetics –a killingly adorable gift arousing our five senses. Thanks to the “Freshly…

Anti-Violence Shock Gun – come quietly or…um… else

The Anti-Violence Electrode Shock Gun. There’s something charmingly poetic about describing this as an anti-violence product, isn’t there? Considering the fact that you couldn’t pack more…ahem…’non-lethal’ violence into a handheld device if you tried. Check it – 30KV electronic pulse for incapacitating someone at 3 metres through 1 inch of clothing Pepper powder cartridge for causing extreme discomfort at up to 5 metres Rubber bullet cartridge, 15 metre range Paint bullet for marking naughty people at a distance Stun gun…

Sky Cycle – the scariest ride in the world?

The Sky Cycle. Take one rickety looking pedal cart thing, attach it to an impossibly high and very thin track, strap people into it with a single seat belt and you’ve got the recipe for what looks like the worst experience on earth. And lets not talk about wind, shall we? PS. I suspect the pretty pink baskets on the handlebars are to catch your heart when it literally thumps its way out of your chest. [Thanks Daniel] Tags: sky+cycle, funfair+ride

HD Tune – check on your hard disk health for free

HD Tune is a freeware hard disk diagnosis and benchmarking utility for Windows which is pretty cool. You can use it to check on the health of your disk, keep an eye on its temperature and even show the performance of your disk in graphical form. It’s one of those little utilities that could be very useful if you suspect that your disk is on its way out. The company also makes a similar utility for flash drives but it’s not free….
