Knit your own plush videogames console – and hug a Nintendo today

Let’s face it, there can be little more satisfying in this world than to sew your own plush Nintendo games console, complete with interchangeable screens, two games cartridges and all the controllers. Yowsers!  I made the system with an opening cover so that games can be put in and removed and I made Mario 3 and Duck Hunt games…I made a controller and a gun that can both be plugged in and unplugged…And here’s where my obsessive compulsive behavior comes in,…

The iHome 2Go is a cleverly designed iPod dock and speaker for bicycles. Yeah…? Which is nice, isn’t it? $99.99.  Pedal to the metal with this water-resistant iPod speaker case that clamps to your bike frame. Handlebar mounted remote control allows for safe cycling while listening to…

Mindquarry Collaboration Server is an open source team collaboration system which provides a whole bunch of useful tools like file sharing, wikis and a project line task manager which can be shared by different groups of people both online and offline with auto synchronisation. It looks like it’s been designed for small organisations who need some way of managing disparate projects in HR, marketing, sales etc, which is tres cool, although it is clearly still a work in progress. The initial eye…

United Soccer – online multiplayer football gets its boots on

United Soccer. We blogged about this game 5 years ago, and now it appears to be almost ready for prime time. The web site is a bit broken at the moment, and I’m having problems joining a game (which I think is a problem with firewalls), but if I create my own others can join and it’s a real blast. Like playing multiplayer FIFA 200x in fact, but with more real players. Anyway have a go, it appears to be…

USB Digital Microscope Webcam Hub – out micro your camera macro

The USB Digital Microscope Webcam Hub. Brilliant Sherlock. Not only a digital microscope which you plug into your PC USB port to take snaps of very very small things, but also a USB hub so you can listen to MP3s or charge your GPS device while you potter around being all Marie Curie and stuff. And to top it off, it’s a Webcam too. Sheesh, what’s not to love (except perhaps the price?) $199.00.  USB Digital Microscope + Web Cam…

CarryCool – the soft fridge tote

The CarryCool looks like a soft sided fridge with handles. Or to put it another way, plug it into your car lighter socket and make sure your picnic goodies arrive chilled and delicious. Your wallet might get a bit hot and bothered however as it parts with $155.17.  There’s nothing worse than hitting the road on a hot summer’s day, beers in the cooling bag (or other suitable refreshments), sun beating down, only to find upon your arrival that the cooling…

Magnifico Plus PDA Screen Magnifier – old eyes, new technology

The Magnifico Plus PDA Screen Magnifier is not new by any means, but that doesn’t make it any less useful. OK, so maybe your eyes can read teeny tiny print on a 2.5” screen in daylight, but there are some who have trouble. Heck, I bet even Steve Jobs has trouble with those bifocals on his nose. Anyhoo, $49.99.  “The Best PDA/GPS screen magnifier Ever Made” is even better! The MAGNIFICO PLUS is truly a universal screen magnifier for PDAs, GPSs…

Nokia N800 gets Skype – Internet tablet lovers sigh with relief

The Nokia N800 Internet Tablet now supports Skype. Plus Flash 9.0 (YouTube now works), and 8 GB memory cards (16 GB in total). The new firmware also improves WiFi battery life and touchscreen sensitivity. This is really moving the product along a very nice path, and the multimedia support is now great, with excellent video functionality as well as Internet and FM radio included as standard. Unfortunately I can’t find out how to access more Internet radio stations than the default set….

Keep Moving – UK traffic information goes all citizen motorist

Keep Moving is a great new UK traffic information service. Why? Because it uses motorists as part of the reporting process. The idea is that anyone can call in to the 64644 number to report a traffic jam or incident which they encounter, which will then be instantly relayed to other users of the service via website or voice call. The service also has its own reporters and you can specify which major route, direction and even time slot to check. It’s…

The $30 replacement iPhone battery – coming to a classifieds near you soon?

Hear that noise? It’s the sound of a thousand Far East workshops beavering away to produce replacement iPhone batteries. At this rate the iPhone is going to end up one of the most hacked gadgets ever delivered to this sorry excuse for a planet.  Currently, the official battery replacement service for iPhone requires sending the iPhone to Apple. iPhone is sealed and is not “user-servicable”. Apple charges $79 plus shipping to replace battery. Skyway target is to manufacture self-replaceable battery…
