Runabout Electric Tricycle – fun, fast and green

These Runabout Electric Tricycles look like a lot of fun. Especially since they can be converted to electric snow-ski mobiles for the winter. They’re not cheap at a starting price of $4500.00, but they’re hand made, have got a range of 40 miles and judging by the video, look like a blast to ride. [via TransportTrends]  Each RunAbout Cycle frame is hand made, precision cut and TIG welded aircraft grade 4130 cromoly tubing. It takes a skilled worker more than…

The EasyCap USB TV & Video Capture Adaptor is a tiny video capture device which records your video input to any of the major codec formats, as well as taking up less room than a packet of rat flavoured pork scratchings. Polished Bamboo Mouse – green peripherals for the new millennium

The Polished Bamboo Optical Mouse is sleek, shiny and ecologically very state of the art. Bamboo is about a gazillion times more biodegradeable than grey mottled plastic, and probably feels better under hand too. Suspect the inner workings are still plastic though, which is a shame. Whatever, you can get yours for a mere £18.99.  The electronic components are lead free and comply with CE and EU safety approvals. The unique bamboo colour offers a natural beauty and style ideal…

3D Mailbox – the SIMS + GMail = a fun weird spam (b)eating email service

3D Mailbox is definite proof that Robert Savage is either a genius or a fruitcake. For the record Robert is the creator of Visitorville, the 3D web stats program which shows site visitors as 3D avatars arriving to a site on buses labeled Google, Yahoo! or other referrers etc. Anyhoo, he’s at it again. This time with a downloadable email program that turns your messages into 3D SIMS-like people arriving at a Miami pool resort. The messages…er…people are checked by a bouncer and…

Symbaloo – the button based search and start page

Symbaloo is one heck of a weird search and start page service from the Netherlands. It’s not that it doesn’t work, because it does – kinda. It’s just that the interface is so simple you can’t really believe it. I don’t think I’ll be swapping my Netvibes page for this anytime soon, but it’s definitely a fascinating attempt to tackle interface simplicity for the web.  Symbaloo is an easy way to start your daily internet session. Traveling information, phone numbers,…

Metz 28 CS-2 Digital Flash – suddenly your pathetic digicam flash gets muscles

The Metz CS-2 Digital Flash is an ingenious little device from Germany which acts as an add-on flash unit for your digital camera. The clever bit is that it sync flashes along with your pop-up unit, and not only that, but it can be fired remotely via an infrared trigger, which means that you can start shooting professional type lighting with a plain old vanilla point and shoot camera. It’s not a totally new idea, but this is certainly the…

Hymn Book iPod Cover – yeah though I walk…

The Hymn Book iPod Cover is an interesting variation on a classic theme. And lets face it, what better place to house your music player than a cover which reminds you of Steve Jobs? £14.95.  This rather quirky looking number is called the Hymn Book and has been brought to us by the marvellous Suck UK. It allows you to demonstrate just how devoted you are to your iPod and your music by providing it with this ultra cool leather…

Teeny Bluetooth Dongle – fingernail sized wireless comes to town

This must surely be the smallest Bluetooth dongle in existence? Once the slide cover is in place you’d be hard pressed to find it in a small pile of mushy peas. Ultraviolet Inspection Kit – the invisible auditing tool

So how do you make a cruddy occupation even worse than it is? Why by using an Ultraviolet Inspection Kit of course. Use the invisible pen to mark up various areas of your washroom, and go round after with the UV lamp to check whether they’ve been rubbed off. Simple eh? And don’t forget to fully humiliate the poor staffer who misses a mark before summarily booting them into oblivion. £21.60.  Are your cleaners cleaning where they should be cleaning? This ultra…

Neokast – set up your own internet television station in minutes

The guys at Neokast have given me an early sneak peek at their video streaming beta service, and first impressions are that this could be an extremely cool piece of technology once they iron out a few wrinkles. This is not another Joost clone, it’s a full-on television type video streaming service – think Shoutcast or Live365 for video. The service has a number of standout cool features: Once you’re set up with an account and you’ve installed the player/broadcaster plugin, setting up…

My, how Spencer’s grown. Nevermind, eh? [Confession time: I bought Nevermind solely on the basis of that brilliant cover image. Walked into a store on a whim and walked out with a bunch of newly released albums including this one. Best impulse buy I’ve ever made.] Tags: nirvana, spencer, music, nevermind

Ipevo Solo.1 Skype Phone – the no-computer VoIP desk phone

The Ipevo Solo.1 is a Skype enabled desktop speakerphone that doesn’t require a computer. I think we can safely say that the Skype platform now rules consumer friendly VoIP hardware and services in a pretty significant way. This is a perfect product to introduce Internet calling to those more technophobic relatives, isn’t it? £107.99.  SOLO.1 bridges traditional telephone and VoIP by making Skype universally accessible to users that are less familiar with VoIP or PC, e.g. elderly or children. SOLO.1 makes Skype calls as easy as…
