Sonex Electric Airplane – hum, crackle, swoop and soar

The Sonex Electric Airplane is a concept plane which runs on batteries. That’s right, you can recharge it from your wall socket and poodle off as and when you feel the need. Clever eh? Two things. First, there’s no way I’d trust any teeny tiny engine like that to keep me aloft at 5000 feet for any length of time and two, a 24 hour charging cycle for an hour’s flight time? Riiight! And it’s significant that while there’s a fancy…

Infant SUV – grab ’em while they’re young, Maximilian

The Gaucho Peg Perego is proof of the old Jesuit maxim – get ‘em while they’re young and they’ll be your gas guzzling slaves for life. Or something. It’s billed as an all-terrain (snort, yeah right) high performance (7.5 mph folks) twin passenger electric children’s SUV. Make of it what you will, good people, but suffice to say that it comes with a working FM radio and a glove compartment. $999.95 (or $450.00 if you know where to look).  Unlike other…

The new MP4 Watch II offers much of the same, but done bigger, better, larger, clearer and more flexibly. Honest. Complete with a 1.8 inch colour screen and internal speaker. There, if you can’t find something useful out of that lot, you must be dead. Or a Luddite. So there. $92.00 for 2GB.  MP4 Watch II…

Deezer – newest online jukebox offers free listening pleasure

Deezer. Every time a new site, service or program comes on to the scene offering mainstream music tracks it’s a sign that the music industry is coming to its senses. Oh it’s slow all right, but they’re getting there, inch by excruciating inch. Anyhoo, this is actually not new, it’s Blogmusik redone and streaming only, but hey, one more brick in the wall, right? (And WalMart’s DRM free MP3 tracks are another sign that things are finally starting to change,…

RescueTime – time management gets superb automation tool

I’ve been beta testing RescueTime for the past week and it rocks. We first mentioned it back in June and now that I’ve had a chance to play with it I can honestly say that this is one of the coolest web applications I’ve seen in a long time. Strictly speaking it’s a hybrid web app, since you need to install a small client side proglet to do the actual monitoring of your activities, but whatever the tech, this could…

Sony’s Bio Battery – sweet sounds from new sugar power

Catch this Sony demonstration of a sugar powered bio battery. It’s pretty sweet. Arf! Actually it’s a seriously cool technology if they can ever perfect it for commercial use. The video shows them powering an MP3 player which is great, although I can foresee problems with people being tempted to eat their gadgets when they get depressed. Ah well… [via TokyoMango]  The bio electric battery which this time was made on an experimental basis the worldwide highest output of 50mW…

Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 Hard Drive – 1 TB in your pocket and a miracle in your hand

Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 1 TB Hard Disk Drive. 1 TB? One terabyte??? ONE THOUSAND thousand thousand thousand bytes??? In a single 3.5 inch drive???? At a $344.99 street price? Are you people all out of your cotton picking tree? Don’t you know that this is ridiculous? They’re Winchester drives for Pete’s sake, they’ll never hold more than 10 MB tops on those slow, clunky 8 inch platters. Everyone knows that. What are you guys smoking? Sheesh!
