Free N-Gage FIFA 2008 Game Offer – still crazy after all these years…

The kindly and generous folk at Nokia and Electronic Arts have decided to extend the free FIFA 08 football game for the Nokia N-Gage platform until the end of August. That’s right, you can log on, download and install the game for free onto your Nokia N-Gage Symbian handset, if you have one. Golly.  Install the N-Gage application on your compatible Nokia Nseries device and you will get the complete version of EA SPORTS™ famed football franchise (valued at 10…

Jamglue – remixing for the masses

Jamglue. Upload your tracks and play around. Add cool FX, mix and max different tracks, let your imagination run rout/reet/riot. The developers have thrown in all the usual community stuff, as well as a smattering of contest action to keep you engaged as you play away. Not a bad effort really, nice and clean and immediately engaging if you’re into this sort of thing, although I do have a feeling they’re trying just a bit too hard. Ah well, check it out all you LL…

Anti-Glare Driving Panel – world’s first anti-glare LED panel for night drivers

This Anti Glare Driving Panel is an add-on LED lamp panel which you attach above the driving seat to reduce the glare from on-coming car lights at night. The idea is that the soft light from the panel shrinks your pupils slightly and so reduces the amount of glaring light that flows into your eyes from oncoming traffic. OK look, it’s German right, so it must work. And if you’ve ever driven in Europe you’ll have seen the gradient lighting…

The BIC Phone – so is the mobile phone really a commodity now, Grandpa?

The clever French folk at Orange have just launched the BIC Phone which is a handset designed to shave you closer, write reliably and cheaply, make phone calls while on the move. It comes with an hour’s worth of calls pre-loaded, a charged up battery and the SIM in place. All you’ve got to do is tear off the packaging and start calling and texting. Oh and it’s got an FM radio in it too. I think. There appears to be some confusion also…

Spotswood Custom PC Case – drum up some oohs and aahs with these computer enclosures

Spotswood Custom PC Case. They may look like they’ve just been dragged off stage at a Green Day concert, but despite what you may think these are computer cases not kick drums. They’re all custom made out of wood veneer and stainless steel fittings, and come in a bewilderingly large array of colours and accessories. Budget around $425.00 for the privilege. [Via DarkRoastedBlend]  Luxurious is one of the first words to roll off your tongue when viewing this gorgeous wood PC…

Post-A-Note Pen – perfect solution for the memory challenged note taker

The Post-A-Note Pen comes with its own supply of self-adhesive notes, which means you’ll never have to scrabble around for a piece of paper when you’re trying to grab their phone number in an emergency. The retro touch is quite nice too, all that fiddling around with your phone, trying to get the numbers into your contacts is so…like…clumsy, isn’t it? Anyway it’s £19.95 and don’t ask the price of the refill cartridges.  Ever wished you had a piece of paper…

TheWorld Browser – superb new web browser defines new era in software development?

TheWorld Browser is a freeware web browser from software developers Phoenix Studio. Ho-hum I hear you say. Yeah well get this. It runs off the Internet Explorer engine, fits into a 566 KB file (!) available in either standard or no install versions and is about 3 times as fast as Firefox or *any other browser* I’ve ever used. What’s really astonishing is the fact that it is fully featured, no cut down compromises here. Tabbed interface with sophisticated and…

LuserMan – credit crisis, what crisis…?

LuserMan – credit crisis, what crisis…? An imaginary conversation from a place not so far away. Ring ring. Ring Ring. LuserMan (LM): Good morning and welcome to the Luser Bank Credit Card hotline. How may I help you today? Me: Hi there. Ermm…I’ve just received a replacement credit card from you in the post today, and I notice that it’s already dated as expired from last month. It’s obviously a mistake and… LM: Ah yes sir, you’re correct. That is how…

Hasselblad H3DII-50 Digital Camera – honey, your granddaddy’s home…

Hasselblad H3DII-50. There are some products which you instinctively know are beyond the normal plane of human existence. That ooze self-confidence bordering on arrogance, with just a teeny dash of insouciant ennui. So it has to be with this new Hasselblad (or ‘Blad as my sniffily superior photographer friend calls them) digital camera. We’re talking a 50 megapixel, medium format, ‘don’t bother me son I’m busy’ DSLR sharpshooter with eye and waist level viewfinders and an integrated CCD cooling sink. Phew, thank goodness for…

Round Portable DVD Player – small enough to matter, big enough to care

This Round Portable DVD Player is a great example of the old chestnut that form should follow function. And what better function is there that a plastic disk spinning inside a round shaped player. It’s a jolly good job that the LCD screen on the front doesn’t also spin, though, isn’t it? Anyway, moving swiftly along we learn that it plays MP3 tunes (oooh) can accept SD cards or USB drives (aaah) and has an output socket to plug it…

Pets Eye View – the ultimate low life camera

Pets Eye View. Hey, remember that DIY Cat Cam we wrote about last year, well it looks as though some enterprising company thought it was a Darn Good Idea™ and is going to market them soon. Er…for $44.99. Here kitty, kitty…  It’s a scientific fact: Pets can’t be trusted. Oh sure, they look like little angels, but they’re just buttering you up so you’ll feed them. Soft House – harvesting power from your curtains

The Soft House project harvests electrical energy from a set of curtains by using ‘organic photovoltaic nanotechnology’ material to convert sunlight into power. The idea is that the curtains convert the sun’s rays all day, then switch to insulating and even lighting the habitat during the evening and night. The research team reckon they can harvest up to 16,000 watt hours of power a day, which is around half of the needs of an average US home. [Thanks Matthew]. Cue joke –…
