Hexacopter – scary fast and cheap to build fun R/C flyer

This Hexacopter is no toy, that’s for certain. Forget about your ideas of little flying models puttering around a field, peeps, this thing screams. The rate of ascent in ‘elevator mode’ is just amazing. Watch the video below. If you fancy your hand at making one of these, you’ll apparently need around $1500.00 and a good dash of soldering skills. You know who you are. [Via]  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyYujjP5J-k  Compared to a quadrocopter with 4 rotors, an MK-Okto brings the following advantages:…

Ashampoo Internet Accelerator 2 – freeware gives you a rocket fast Internet connection

The Ashampoo Internet Accelerator 2 is a free program designed to speed up your Internet connection. It’s easy to use, and fast, and actually does seem to work. I ran through a quick tweak and reboot and instantly increased my DSL connection by 20%, at least for the download part. Nothing seems to lift my upload speeds beyond a paltry 512kbps. There’s also a manual settings option for the hard core l33t tweakers. Definitely worth a download, although it does ask…

Perfect Photo Cameras – how the boffins are developing software that will eradicate bad photos

An international team of research scientists are designing software which will automatically produce aesthetically beautiful images from our snapshots. The team, led by Prof Daniel Cohen-Or at Tel-Aviv University, Israel and Prof Ligang Liu at Zhejiang University, China, have already managed to isolate a number of factors which go towards making an image ‘pleasing’ to the eye, and are now busy incorporating their ideas into their software. Entourage Edge – Half eBook reader, half tablet PC

There are eInk eBook readers and there are tablet PCs, but as yet they’re pretty much separate gadgets. The Entourage Edge promises to shake things up a bit by wearing two hats, possibly more. It’s an eBook reader, tablet or netbook PC, media player and video capable VoIP device. It’s designed to be used in schools as a replacement for textbooks but I’m pretty sure schools won’t be the only customers. The eBook reader is a 9.7″ eInk screen, which…
