Samsung Galaxy Tab – first impressions

Had a quick play around with a Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet computer yesterday evening, courtesy of the good folk at 3 UK. And? Well it has a nice feel to it. Solidly built. Great capacitive screen, very responsive, Android 2.2 is fast, and the screen is high enough resolution to make things like browsing and GPS maps a pleasure.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPfCZC4VHnE The 3G data worked extremely well, snappy and the ebook reader worked a treat. Add in multitouch zoom, twin cameras (1…

Roadkil’s Unstoppable Copier – freeware recovers files from broken CD/DVDs

Roadkil’s Unstoppable Copier is an improbably named freeware program which promises to retrieve data from broken CDs or DVDs. Got an old CD with a scratch, or just an old disk which has eroded due to sunlight or exposure to a harsh environment (we’re looking at you, crowded desk)? All you need to do is run up the program and select how thorough you want the retrieval to be. The more thorough, the longer it will take of course. Available…

Lastwear – world’s first open source clothing company

Lastwear is a revolution in clothing manufacture. For one thing the company licenses all its creative materials under a Creative Commons license, but now –  following a successful Kickstarter campaign –  they are going to release all their production patterns for download so anyone can sew their own versions of the garments. Wild!   Not only that, but they’re also practising a transparent business, by putting their sales, production and business information online for anyone to see. DELL Inspiron Duo hybrid tablet netbook computer – have it all ways

The info trickling out about the new DELL Inspiron Duo tablet/netbook hybrid looks rather interesting. Windows 7 powered, dual core Atom processor (i.e. fast) and a very clever swivelling 10.1 inch screen. Despite our continued meh-ness about tablet computing for serious work, we’re thinking this could offer the best of both worlds, especially if the battery life is good and the performance matches. Check out the video.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi_st9XMaqw Tags: tablet, netbook, windows, dell+inspiron+duo

Everyone knows it’s impossible to tell how much gas is left in your bottle. But maybe now you can get a pretty good approximation?
