Lens Cap Strap Holder keeps your cap from getting lost

I don’t want to think about the number of lens caps I’ve lost for my camera. It’s a silly thing, but I’ll take off the cap to snap a quick picture, and maybe set it down beside me. Then one picture turns into a 15-minute mini photo shoot that involves me wandering off somewhere else as I take them. By the time I go to put the cap back on, I’ve no idea where I set it. Well here’s something…

AllMyApps makes re-installing software on a new machine easier than ever

Whenever I reinstall Windows on any of my computers, the first thing I do is go to Ninite and select the usual freeware that I use on my machines. I love it, because once I make my selections and download the installer, it does all of the downloading and installing for each of the programs for me. Well a new service called AllMyApps looks to do something very similar, but offers you much more.

USB Chargeable Mini Flashlight is perfect for office power outages

I’m starting to think that every portable device should be rechargeable via USB. I’ve got plenty of them on the front of my PC, and it saves me from crawling around and plugging things into my power strip. That’s exactly why I’m liking this simple USB Chargeable Mini Flashlight. This tiny torch uses a white LED to provide a bright light in dark places. All you need to juice it up is to plug it into an available USB port…

DeSOPA allows you to get around SOPA-enforced DNS blocks

If you’re concerned about the repercussions of the much-debated SOPA bill that’s making waves here in the US, then you might start looking at ways to get around the DNS blocking that it could potentially lead to. Thankfully, there are already people out there working on ways to get around the blocks, should they happen. And, if you know anything about how DNS actually works, you’ll know that it’s not actually that hard to get around.

Use a Bluetooth keyboard or headset to take pictures with your iPhone

When you’re taking a picture it’s essential to keep the camera as still as possible. This rings true whether you’re using the most expensive DSLR, or your cell phone. Sometimes the best way to keep it still is to not touch the camera at all. This involves either setting a timer, or using some sort of remote. What’s interesting is that if you have an iPhone, there are a number of things that can be used as a remote for…

iPhone Carabiner Clip puts your favorite gadget in harm’s way

iPhones don’t come cheap. This is understandable, since they’re pretty advanced pieces of technology. Like other gadgets that cost a hefty sum, you want to do your best to ensure that they don’t get broken. That’s why there’s an entire market devoted to protective cases. That’s also why I couldn’t ever dream of using this iPhone Carabiner Clip. The clip screws into the bottom of your phone, right by the dock connector. They give you replacement screws that are long…

Macro Cell Lens Band lets you take macro pictures with almost any phone

There have been a lot of cases and accessories for the iPhone that add different lenses to the camera. While I agree that the right lens can make a difference, I’ve been pretty opposed to the whole idea. My main reason for this is that bulky lenses make a phone hard to carry. If I can’t carry my phone in my pocket, then I feel like I might as well just bring along my DSLR. That’s why I’m happy to…

SilentPockets make your cellphone impossible to track

Do you ever worry that someone is tracking your movements via your cell phone? Most phones these days are able to be tracked by the phone company, should they choose to. However, this is something that generally takes a court order to do. So the majority of people don’t really worry about the possibility. However, if you’re convinced that they are watching you, then you might be interested in one of these SilentPockets from MIAmobi.

Sony Tablet S now supports gaming with a PS3 controller

Tablets are great for a variety of tasks. I’d by lying if mine didn’t get used for a lot of leisure activities, such as reading and watching videos. Surprisingly, I don’t play a lot of games on mine. There’s something about holding it up and trying to use on-screen controls that has little appeal to me. However, if you own a Sony Tablet S, you might have a better time.

Report bad cab drivers with the ReportATaxi app

When you’re traveling in a large city, sometimes the best way to get around is to call a cab. It’s nice to know that cabs are regulated by a governing body, as this means that fares are kept (somewhat) reasonable, and that your driver will hopefully drive safely and treat you right. However, you still get bad drivers from time to time. But when you’re busy traveling and rushing to get somewhere, do you really have time to call up…

Cam Crate keeps your DSLR safe

If you want to take the best picture possible, there’s a good chance that you’re going to turn to a DSLR. Of course, getting one generally requires a good bit of money being spent on your part. So if something happens to your favorite camera while you’re out and about, you’re going to be really upset. There are a lot of cases out there, but most only provide a little bit of padding, or are extremely bulky. However, if this…

Free Games Corner – Mysostis, Mysterious Island 49 & Matryoshka

This week in free games corner we ask “but is it art?” whilst we point & click our way through some puzzles and problems, because whilst we’re just in it for the cheap thrill of a free web game or three, some of the people who make these things actually know what they are doing and do a very nice job of lovingly crafting something for our eyeballs and eardrums to feast upon. Bless ’em. Myosotis Chapter 1 takes a…

DIY Magnetic Levitating Sculpture Kit

A wise man once asked, magnets, how do they work? Come to think of it, wise might not be the right word. Anyway, that’s irrelevant. Regardless of the science behind magnets, they’re still quite fascinating, depending on how they’re used. My favorite is to see something suspended in midair using them. If you find this to be equally interesting, then you might want to check out this DIY Magnetic Levitating Sculpture Kit. The kit includes everything you need to suspend…
