Hex3 lets you play laser tag wherever you want

Laser tag is one of those games that I would play every day if I could. There’s something about the adrenaline rush that comes with playing that makes it over-the-top fun. Not to mention it’s a great workout. The only problem with playing that often is that it’s going to wrack up a bill after a while.

Star Trek Bat’leth Letter Opener ensures your victory against envelopes

Opening mail with human hands can be a somewhat bothersome task. Not only do you have to fidget through trying to pry paper from paper that it’s glued to, but you also need to take care to not rip the contents as well. The best methodology to make the envelope reveal its contents is to use a letter opener. However, a crafty foe such as this shouldn’t be taken lightly, as you can walk away from this battle with a…

The Clinical Muscle Toner gives you a workout while you watch TV

We’ve all hoped that a radioactive spider would bite us and we would wake up with a toned body. While I’m afraid we’ll have to leave that fantasy in comic books, it doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways to magically get a “perfect body”. There are diet pills, commercial diets, and all sorts of other ways to sink your money into something that may or may not work.

Steampunk Stereo System brings out the closet Victorian in your music

There’s nothing in the rulebook that says you have to surround yourself with dull boring chattels. Sure you can play it safe with grey, chrome and Hello Kitty pink, but eventually you’re going to run out of ways to declare your status and will need to branch out a bit. And that’s where the glorious frivolity of steampunk comes into play.

New Smart Fabric could be the latest in burglar proofing

Yet another amazing breakthrough has been announced by researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration in Berlin, Germany. Called Smart Fabric, it’s a simple-seeming sheet of fabric that incorporates silver-coated conductive threads webbed together that are connected to a microcontroller. When weakened or broken by an intruder, it acts as an anti-intruder alarm, identifying the exact location of the break-in. This remarkable fabric will be significantly cheaper than current burgler alarm systems and can be placed in a…

OneLoupe makes your laptop’s tiny text big enough to read [Freeware]

One of the great things about laptop computing is the portability of being able to work anywhere. One of the bad things about laptop computing is the fact that the portability means your screen is often difficult to read, especially in bad lighting situations. Wouldn’t it be great if there was some tool which could magnify your screen display to make it easier to scan?

Hi-Call Gloves are a winter must-have

When it’s snowing like a blizzard and you have to answer a call, you already know that your hands are not going to be happy with you. Talking on the phone more often than not means stripping all the protective gear off of your hands to access the touchscreen. From there, you have to hold the freezing cold phone next to your face while you can feel frostbite setting into your fingertips.

Lifeproof Case knows that life happens

If you’ve ever had to experience the panic of realizing your phone is about to be broken seconds before it breaks, then you know that feeling of absolute helplessness. Even if you have a case on it, there’s a good chance it’s going to end up with a cracked screen, filled with water, or another horrendous method of death for a phone. If you want to keep your device safe from all harm, you’ll want to put a little more…

The Breville VTT296 Radio Toaster and other things that ought not to be…Part 1

There are certain designs which you take one look at and go…nope. The Sinclair C5 was of course the classic example, a product so hideous in form and function that only a near sighted son of an Albanian goat-herder could possibly love it. In a similar way, we believe that there are other products which could also be classed as ‘hmm…not that clever’.

BMW M3 Challenge etc – the car industry’s new marketing weapon? Video games. [Freeware]

So what do you do if you’re part of a multi-billion dollar industry that’s suffering massively due to the economic downturn? Improve your products? Lower prices? Ask customers what they really want, instead of pestering them with yet another new model with different shaped door handles every year? Nope, you start marketing your products via video games. Can’t get ’em too young, y’know.

Shimi is a docking station that wants to be your dance partner

When you listen to one of your favorite songs, you probably start belting out the words or dancing along to the beat (or both). You know that if you heard the same song at an event or club with friends, you would probably have a smile plastered on your face. Grooving to the beat is always more fun when it’s more than just one person, but you’re not always going to have a friend at home to dance with you.
