iMusic Knitted Hat should be your winter headphones

It’s not even fall yet, but all we have to do is blink and it’s going to be winter again. Frost-bitten fingers and bundling up in coats that look like marshmallows will be upon us before we know it. Whether rain, shine, or snow, we’re still going to be listening to our music, and cringe every time we put ice cold earbuds in.

The Hunger Phone tells you when to eat

Researchers at NTT DoCoMo in Japan are well known for their attempts to propel the mobile phone into more and more areas of our everyday lives, and the latest iteration of this vision involves our health. Following on from earlier handset prototypes which measure our body fat and other physical markers, the team has now come up with a handset that measures a fundamental aspect of our metabolism, our eating patterns.

Rover 2.0 is the Tron version of an RC car

It seems that toys just aren’t as interesting to kids if they don’t light up. Shoes? Put some lights in the sole and they’re ready to go. Bouncy ball? Adding in lights means it will be played with three more times than it would’ve been otherwise. When it comes to remote-controlled cars, you have to be ahead of the game if you want to charge $150 for one. So what do you think it has on it?

Kisai Zone LCD Watch will mesmerize you with a constantly moving display

There’s something about looking at a ticking clock that’s kind of depressing. The hands move so slowly that you can almost feel each second as it passes by. Looking at a wristwatch helps you to know if you’re on schedule or late, making it only a reminder of the wasted time in between. Life shouldn’t be so boring as that, and neither should your watch!

OXO Good Grips keep your trip to the fridge with ice trays drip-free

There are some of us in the world that don’t have an automatic ice maker in our freezer. While this isn’t a huge issue, it does mean we have to resort to ice trays if we want any in our drinks. There’s no real harm in this, but the journey from the kitchen sink to the freezer is a lot harder when you’re trying to an entire tray of water from spilling all over yourself and the floor.

Topsy is a deeply interesting search engine

Over the years we’ve covered a fair number of search engines, most of them trying to reinvent the wheel by adding thumbnails, or some other interfering feature in the search process which doomed them to failure. Or they’ve simply not produced good enough results when compared with the global leader.

Allure Tabletop Fire Pit won’t set your house on ablaze

No matter the season or weather, it’s nice to have a good fire going that you can warm your hands next to. Sadly you can only make this a reality if you have both a fireplace and a fire pit for the various seasons. There are very few people who would want to warm their house via fireplace in the summer if they don’t have access to a pit, and an even fewer amount that will want to try and…

Scoutguard SG580M GSM Camera lets you photograph the wilds from your armchair

It’s taken a while, but the manufacturers are finally waking up to the idea that combining a cell phone SIM card with a static digital camera can result in some pretty cool products if you get creative. Wildlife cameras are nothing new, but the idea that you can set a camera in an extremely remote place and have it beam back images to your mobile phone is something that’s only now catching on, for both sport and security.

The world is becoming a smaller place. Not only can we traverse the planet in mere hours nowadays, but at the click of a button we can be chatting to someone literally the other side of the globe. It’s incredible how much we take it for granted, so it’s nice to see that some developers are still creating tools to make it easier for us to communicate with each other.
