Ghost Chilli Growing Kit – the hottest pepper in the world comes to your windowsill, and good luck with that…

There are chilli peppers and then there are chilli peppers, and the Bhut Jolokia, or Ghost Chilli is the world’s hottest, at least according to the Guinness Book of Records. It’s so hot that villagers in India apparently use it smeared on fence posts to keep the elephants away. We’re talking ten times hotter than a habanero chilli. Get the idea?

TunnelBear Mobile – excellent free WiFi security tool now available on Android and iPhone [Freeware]

One of the things it’s important to remember is the fact that wireless networking connections (especially public WiFi) are inherently insecure, which means it’s pretty easy for people with a bit of tech skill to tap into your connection and spy on your stuff. Radio Control Tarantula – aka how to avoid visitors on Halloween

The internet is currently in love with a goofy horror short of a giant spider [warning: not for very young eyes] that traps people in its web. Spoiler alert, it’s not a spider. Or even bad CGI. It’s a dog in a spider costume. Up close it’s adorable but I suppose if you saw it running at you in the middle of the night in an empty subway you would probably freak out too. New Chinese Texting Lane is for people who can’t stop looking at their phones [Weird]

Apparently the city of Chongqing in China feels that there’s a problem with people walking and texting, so it’s introduced a new ‘Cellphone Lane’, which is there to be used by people who are staring at their handsets as they walk. You couldn’t make this stuff up, could you? The street, actually called Foreigner Street, has a clearly marked lane, with a sign that labels them for mobile phone users.

Legion Meter – charge your phone at light speed

This always happens. I look at my phone and it’s at some ridiculously low battery level. Then I look at the clock and realize I don’t have time to charge it before I have to run off and do some highly important task. I either leave with a dying phone or see what I can get from five minutes plugged in. The Legion Meter plans to put a stop to this.
