35 Fantastic HDR Pictures – beautiful tone mapped images

35stunninghdrimages

35 Fantastic HDR Pictures. Some very nice examples of the trendy HDR process. I’ve tried taking some HDR photos too, but they’re not quite as fancy as these examples. Here’s my tree.

  • Hmmm. I’m a photographer myself and enjoy looking at, and more importantly learning from, almost all photos.

But I draw the line at HDR photos. They look so plastic and fake and the complete lack of variation in tonality makes me want to look away.

Maybe it’s because we don’t see the world that way that it makes them so hard to look for me.

Nige your tree is nowhere near the extremes of the ones in the link. It’s very nice.

  • i partially agree with dtm- some hdr images are stunning, but a lot come out seeming like bizzare illustrations in a style that i do not personally care for. your tree however, nigel, is very nice. this is also a technique i want to personally experiment with out of personal curiosity, along with some time lapse video with a dslr.

  • Heh, thanks very much Dan, that’s very nice of you (especially from a professional!). I agree that much of the HDR stuff can be over the top in a sickly postcard kind of way, but some of it really does come across as quite lovely I think, which is why I’ve been playing around with the technique. :-)
