3G Clip Antenna – boost the signal on your 3G dongle or your static crackle back

3Gclipantenna

This 3G Clip Antenna promises to improve the reception of your 3G cellular mobile broadband signal. You can either clip it to your laptop screen, or use the desk stand if you’re back in the office. I haven’t managed to test one of these things out yet, so I’ve got no idea whether they work as advertised. Or even if they work better than hanging the dongle out of the window on a long USB cable. So caveat emptor. £19.95.

This 3G Datacard antenna is great for improving signal and transfer speeds. This antenna and connector assembly is all you need to make huge improvements in signal with your 3G UMTS datacard and it features a handy clip design to attach unobtrusively to your laptop screen.

  • i have just bort a 3 mobile broadband pay as you go and the signal is really slow , what is your advice ???

    • did you get any joy as i have the same problem

  • @ suggestions:

    1. Check you’re receiving 3G and not just GPRS. Do you have a strong signal?

    2. Is it slow just indoors or everywhere? Do you have 3G coverage in your area?

    3. Have you tried moving the dongle around in the location, hanging out of window, walking around outside?

    4. Check if you have a mobile mast near you (in the UK try http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/)

    5. If all else fails, see if an antenna/booster/repeater helps.

    Hope that helps. :-)

  • can i by anything to boost my 3 donngle sognal andy gray norfolk help pages ok? but utube vids are so slow its a waste off time help please x

  • This device provides a tiny, minuscule 2dB gain.

The device wraps around your dongle and has no direct contact which is why it has such a tiny gain.

Considering a typical 3G signal is 40-50db this is not going to make much difference if any.

Go and buy a real 3G dongle that allows an aerial to be screwed into it.

  • If you have just bought a 3 g dongle the settings may not be set to 3 g this is what happened to me and had a slow connection for months. I was getting the signal from england.
So this is well worth a while checking. I rang three g operator who set it up for me. it has worked fine since.

  • i have one datacard but i got only 150 kbs instead of 31.mbs … how to improve the signal strength
