5 MUST HAVE Amazon Shopping Tools – save time, save money, save tears

Here’s a little story. A few days ago I was on the lookout for a Compact Flash drive and went to a nearby camera store to get something. They had 2GB SanDisk III CF cards for £64.99 ($128.00) which I thought was a little expensive, so I went outside, flipped open my mobile phone and surfed to Amazon, where to my utter surprise I found the exact same item for £15.00 ($30.00) plus shipping. Huh? So I bought it immediately via the handset and Amazon’s super easy interface, and it arrived through my letterbox within 24 hours (early next morning in fact). The moral of this story? Amazon has got it right, big time. Bricks and Mortar? Hmm….

So as a celebration of that success story I am pleased to present – 5 MUST HAVE Amazon Shopping Tools. Enjoy! [with a grateful nod to Metafilter]

  • Amazon Filler Item Finder. Are you close to that $25.00 minimum needed for free shipping? Use this handy little tool to find items that will let you qualify. Simple and brilliant!
  • Super Saver Shipping Search. Limit your Amazon product searches to items with free shipping and save money.
  • WishRadar. Create or upload your product wishlist, set your desired price and wait for this clever service to notify you when your terms are met.
  • Amazon Super Search Interface. Superb alternative search interface for Amazon stores, Firefox only though unfortunately.
  • Amazon Light. Stripped down Amazon front page interface delivers nicely focussed results without all the eye candy flim-flam.

  • Maybe if you’d gone into the store and showed them Amazon’s price (inc. postage) they would have met the price, or at least brought the price down significantly(?)
It’s an old trick which I’ve used a few times on Tott. Ct. Rd.
It doesn’t surprise them, and I think (secretly) they respect you for it…

  • Mike, I tried that. I went back in and told him exactly what price Amazon had it at. The guy just sort of grunted. So I went outside again and bought the thing online. Weird.

  • Thanks for giving us a whirl, Red. We’re honored to be in your top 5.
    Happy Holidays,

  • e-commerce is getting more and more popular. this creates the need of having good tools to help shoppers make right decisions while buying online. is a place where shoppers can recommend or bury a product, share experience and discuss shopping deals.

  • You might want to take a look at use it to discover discounts on Amazon and filler items to get me above $25 (free shipping)

  • Amazon is my favorite shopping website. The filleritem is good to find small items, and super save search you mentioned is good for saving money on shipping. But there are also many other great tool providing the combined features such as search for discount items and super save shipping items. I use to find some amazon deals, and also for amazon promotional codes.

  • There's also which provides a nice desktop application style all-on-one-page interface for shopping at Amazon. And it gives you access to all the international stores too (Canada, Germany, France, US, UK and Japan).
