We could all use and extra set of eyes when it comes to our children, after all, we’ve got to cook dinner or do laundry from time to time. To help us keep constant vigilance, 5e NannyBot is your eyes when you can’t be right there.
Is it just me or is this a little bit on the creepy side? It’s not straight from the Uncanny Valley or anything of that nature but this minimalist bot is designed to watch and follow your children around and there’s just something a bit creepy about that. It’s only three feet tall so it exists at their level to better “connect” with them but there’s no AI or anything. It’s really just a glorified camera. I don’t mind this sort of innovation for helping with the grocery shopping, but it seems a bit detached for parenting help.
It sends video and audio to the parent’s smartphone and also allows parents to control its movements remotely so that they can totally check out their child’s environment. There’s also a basic attachment to hold toys. It comes with a number of messages in different language options that you can choose from to give your robot nanny a warm, personal touch. The 5e Nannybot isn’t for sale yet.
